I've been thinking a lot about self-love and what that means. I have come to the conclusion that the biggest way we reject ourselves is energetically. Scan your body right now. Are you allowing the energy to flow or are you resisting at your stomach, heart or throat? When we push back on our essence, we push back on God or Life. How can we know that God loves us if we reject Him/Her?
Body image has been in the forefront of my mind because that has been the biggest area of self-rejection for me. The other day I was at the pool with my daughter and nephews when two young, beautiful teenage girls came down. Fit, thin, and healthy - I thought to myself, "I hope they love themselves." And I had to keep myself from saying out loud - "I hope you two know how darling you are..."
Within minutes one of them started talking about her waste, and the fact that sometimes she's a size two and other times a four... My heart broke - even 16 year old beauties reject themselves.
As each of us fall in love with ourselves - unconditionally - we pave the way for others to do the same. I'm having more moments of self love lately... But it takes constant awareness. Because I know how connected we are - this is a social issue for me, as well as a personal one. I want to be a role model for self love - now that's a concept...

kim,
as a an 18 year old girl, or young woman i should say!, i am exposed to SO many girls, a lot of whom are my friends, who are beautiful, critisizing their bodies. sometimes i fall into the trap too, but most of the time i stop them in their tracks and i've started a litte pattern that anytime any of us rejects any part of our body, we have to say we love that body part three times out loud. silly, but it makes a difference. like you said in an earlier passage, love is the only true way to transform anything. <3

That is a great idea, thank you Melissa.
I'm really starting to understand how that love energy can flow through us if we let it. I never really got that before. I knew you were onto something - and I felt that energy when being musical, but I didn't really grasp the concept fully.
I've taken a huge leap of faith and am working on completely turning things over to God - I'm stopping trying to control everything. Just flat out letting it all go. I surrender. I notice when I really turn it over and give it up - that energy you talk about flows through me. Its when I try to control everything that I feel stuck and hurt. I get it now. There is so much freedom in unblocking it and letting it do its thing. I have rejected myself for years not only in self-hate and appearance but through trying to control everything around me - I gave up so much energy in doing that and never accomplished a single thing. Now I'm letting it flow naturally and I feel free.
Surprisingly, I feel more in control and safe than I ever have - when I rely on it and let it flow.

Wow, what a positive group :)
This is a struggle for me. I have not mastered it by any means...I feel as though I make progress and then slip back into my old ways...then make progress, then slip...over and over...
I will keep trying though. The periods of success seem to get a little longer with each renewed committment to take good care of myself!
much love,
g
